Report: Winding Down the Atlantic Philanthropies: The First Eight Years: 2001-2009
Duke University Center for Strategic Philanthropy & Civil Society
7 July 2010The report addresses the questions raised by the seminal decision made by The Atlantic Philanthropies founder Charles F. Feeney to witness the social benefits of his donation during his lifetime, including how and where to invest and evaluate the progress of grants. These issues present new layers of complexity and an assortment of uncommon operational challenges, or at least take very different forms, than in foundations that operate in perpetuity. How Atlantic confronts and resolves those questions is the subject of a series of reports that begins with this submission, prepared by Philanthropy Consultant Tony Proscio in conjunction with Duke University Center for Strategic Philanthropy & Civil Society.
