Somewhere Safe to Play

When a group of young people in Tallaght needed somewhere safe to play, they decided to run a campaign asking South Dublin County Council to build them a playground.
With the help of the Amplifying Voices initiative, the group got everyone in the community involved — parents, neighbours, teachers, local councillors and even Minister for Children Frances Fitzgerald.
In the end they secured €60k in funding for an all-weather play facility. This video documents their campaign.
Amplifying Voices, an initiative supported by Barnardos and Atlantic, is about empowering young people to find their voice and use it to change things important to them.
Barnardos is a grantee of Atlantic’s Children & Youth Programme in the Republic of Ireland, which funds efforts to support children and young people through prevention and early intervention.
