Teach for America and Eli Lilly and Company have announced the launch of a program to support new teachers working in low-income communities in Indianapolis.

Teach for America expanded to Indianapolis this fall, bringing in forty-eight young teachers to work in Indianapolis Public Schools. The program will pair local Lilly employees with the Teach for America teachers, more than half of whom grew up or attended school in Indiana, to help acclimate them to the city and foster networking opportunities. Lilly’s advocacy efforts are expected to supplement the ongoing professional development that Teach for America provides corps members.

“We’re grateful to Lilly and its employees for their commitment to support our teachers as they work relentlessly to make sure students reach their full academic potential,” said Jason Kloth, executive director of Teach For America in Indianapolis. “This is an especially valued partnership as we establish roots in the community.”
