The US-based organisation East Meets West (EMW) is to assist central Da Nang city in the implementation of a 480,000 USD project to help improve the quality of life for the city’s disabled residents.

An agreement to this effect was signed by EMW officials and the city’s Departments of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs and Foreign Affairs on Dec. 12.

The `Support Network for People with Disabilities’ project, funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and Irish Aid, will offer free orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation for the disabled, particularly children with disabilities, and establish community-based rehabilitation centres.

The three-year project will also help to improve health officers’ skills in providing care for the disabled.
