Report: Fifty Plus in Ireland 2011

Trinity College Dublin

12 May 2011

Older people in Ireland play a valuable role in supporting their families and communities, are generally happy with life and have significant unmet health needs, according to this report by Trinity College Dublin that presents the first results from The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), a large-scale, 10 year, nationally representative study of people aged 50 and over in Ireland. As the most ambitious study of ageing ever carried out in Ireland, it aims to gain a better understanding of the lives of older people for establishing policy, and targeting research and resources where there is the greatest need.

TILDA is funded by the Department of Health and Children, Irish Life and The Atlantic Philanthropies.
