Benjamin King Chief Strategy Officer

Benjamin King is the Chief Strategy Officer for The Atlantic Philanthropies. He is based in the New York office.

One of his primary responsibilities is the development, implementation and support of the Atlantic Fellows programs – collectively they are Atlantic’s largest, and final, “big bet.” In total, Atlantic will invest over $600 million in building a global network of Atlantic Fellows and the institutions that support them in their work to create fairer, healthier and more inclusive societies. As part of the foundation’s leadership team, he is also actively involved in executing the final phases of The Atlantic Philanthropies’ limited-life strategy well.

Mr. King has significant experience developing and leading major strategic initiatives in both the nonprofit and private sectors. He was a Consultant and Principal with the global strategy consulting firm Bain & Company and, more recently, worked with The Bridgespan Group, a consulting firm focused on nonprofit and philanthropic organizations. Prior to his work with Bain, Mr. King served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy, including two years in Washington, D.C., as the Director of the Secretary of the Navy’s Congressional Liaison Office.

Mr. King earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
