Receiving Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Brian Cowen in Hanoi Monday, he said Vietnam would also push ahead with the agreements reached during his visit to Ireland.

He thanked the Irish government for its official development assistance commitment to Vietnam for the next three years.

Cowen suggested that the two countries should strengthen cooperation in tourism and education and training.

Cowen also witnessed Monday a ground-breaking ceremony for a blood laboratory meeting European standards in Hanoi.

The laboratory is part of a US$5 million project to enhance local healthcare employees’ capacity to supervise and test blood-transmitted diseases, fully funded by Irish Aid and Atlantic Philanthropies groups.
