Colin McCrea
Colin McCrea is Senior Vice President at The Atlantic Philanthropies. He leads efforts to facilitate the organisation’s work across programme areas in the Republic of Ireland as well as efforts to promote and develop philanthropy in the country. He is Atlantic’s liaison with government officials in Ireland. Mr. McCrea is based in the Dublin office.
He joined The Atlantic Philanthropies in Ireland (formerly Tara Consultants Ltd.) in 1996, and managed the higher education grants portfolio until 2002, which focused on improving universities in Ireland. He was instrumental in developing strong relations with the Irish Government in the education sector, which led to the largest single initiative undertaken by Atlantic in Ireland - the partnership with the Irish Government to improve the research capability of the university sector through the Programme for Research in Third Level Institutions.
Mr. McCrea managed the Reconciliation & Human Rights, Population Health, and Ageing Programmes globally.
Prior to Atlantic, Mr. McCrea worked with the Irish Trade Board, an organisation which promotes trade through its worldwide offices. Mr. McCrea was a member of the Trade Board’s senior management team as Assistant Chief Executive. In 1994, he was appointed the Advisor to the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications in the Irish Government.
Mr. McCrea completed a Bachelor's degree in commerce from University College Dublin.
