Marian Wright Edelman, president of the Children’s Defense Fund, wrote a piece for The Huffington Post arguing against the harshness of Alabama’s anti-immigration law HB56. “Now children born in the USA, American citizens, are living in fear” of family separation, said Edelman in the article. Edelman also mentioned the Center for American Progress and the Applied Research Center (ARC), both Atlantic grantees, and cited ARC’s new report Shattered Families, a study on the intersection of immigration enforcement and the child welfare system.
