Philanthropist Chuck Feeney’s Tale Inspired Bain Capital MD Amit Chandra to Donate Wealth

Last year, Amit Chandra had a high point in his life when he met the ‘James Bond’, of philanthropy. During a trip to San Francisco, the Bain Capital top boss and wife, Archana, met philanthropist Chuck Feeney, who is one of the biggest givers of the past 100 years and has given away large portions of his wealth to charity.

Chandra first discovered Feeney nearly 12 years ago as he started reading about people and their journey of giving. A friend, Abhay Havaldar, who used to run General Atlantic Partners, had gifted him Feeney’s autobiography.

“I was deeply impacted by the book,” Chandra told ETPanache, on the sidelines of the Dasra Philanthropy Day. “It made me think about how wealth can be used productively as an impactful tool to shape society.”
