The Over 50s in a Changing Ireland

Resource type: Research Report

The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing |

More than one third of people over 50 in the Republic of Ireland are obese, with a further 45 per cent overweight, according to the second report of results from The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA).

The report outlines additional health challenges faced by older adults, including cardiovascular disease, arthritis and problematic drinking.

This is the second in a series of four reports from TILDA, a large-scale, nationally representative, longitudinal study on ageing in Ireland, the overarching aim of which is to make Ireland the best place in the world to grow old.
