FLAC

5 November 2012

The social welfare appeals system in the Republic of Ireland needs substantial reform in order to serve the growing number of people who seek state support in a fair and timely manner, according to this report by Free Legal Advice Centers (FLAC), an Atlantic grantee.

This report charts the operations of the Social Welfare Appeals Office and summarises the main difficulties facing appellants and their advocates.

FLAC also makes practical recommendations to improve the current system and achieve compliance with national and international human rights standards.
