Rebecca Van Sickle
Rebecca Van Sickle is the Director of Grants Management for The Atlantic Philanthropies. She is responsible for the effective and efficient management of our grants and the grants management database. Ms. Van Sickle seeks continuous improvement for our grantmaking processes with an emphasis on service delivery and spend-down planning, including analysing grants data to inform planning and decision making by senior leadership. She leads a team of grants associates based in New York and Dublin who perform the integrity review, approval and payment of our grants. She joined Atlantic as Grants Management Executive in 2008.
Prior to Atlantic, Ms. Van Sickle was the Grants Manager at the Citi Foundation, the corporate foundation for Citigroup, Inc, where her team was responsible for reviewing and monitoring more than 2,700 grants annually for organisations in more than 100 countries. She also developed strong knowledge of grants management databases at Citi Foundation.
Ms. Van Sickle started her career in philanthropy at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation as a Program Assistant, working with all of the foundation’s programme areas to promote best practices and later as a consultant to improve the design and use of the foundation’s evaluation database.
She serves on the Board of Directors of the Grants Managers Network, a national organisation that works to advance the skills of grants management professionals and encourage foundations to adopt effective grantmaking practices. Ms. Van Sickle is also a member of the Client Advisory Board for MicroEdge. In addition, she is an active alumna of Northwestern University, serving as a member of the Council of One Hundred, a mentoring organisation for women.
Ms. Van Sickle received a B.S. from Northwestern University and an M.B.A. from Cornell University.
