John A. Healy

John A. Healy is the Director of Impact Assessment and Global Learning at The Atlantic Philanthropies. He is based in Dublin.

Mr. Healy manages the Strategic Learning function, which is an international team of seven people who focus on helping Atlantic and grantee organisations design evaluations and implement strategic and organisational development initiatives. The team helps the leaders of causes and movements which Atlantic supports to learn about and evaluate their social change strategies.

Since joining Atlantic in 1998, Mr. Healy has held a range of positions including Research and Evaluation Officer and Programme Executive. He also chaired the group in 2002 that explored the feasibility of Atlantic funding a Population Health Programme.

Prior to joining Atlantic, Mr. Healy served as Researcher and Evaluator on a range of social and economic projects. He was an Evaluation Officer in a community development organisation in Limerick and lectured part-time on research methods in a programme for community workers at the University of Limerick. In 1997, Mr. Healy co-authored an Irish basic income proposal that led to the Irish Government setting up a feasibility study to explore implementing this redistribution of income.

He earned a B.A. in economics and politics from Trinity College, Dublin and a M.A. in economics from University College Cork. In 2008, Mr. Healy graduated from an Executive Masters programme on organisational change at the HEC in Paris and Oxford University.
