Elizabeth J. McCormack
ELIZABETH J. McCORMACK became a Director in 1995. She was a Deputy Chair from 2000 to 2007.
Ms. McCormack formerly directed the Rockefeller Philanthropy office and continues as a Philanthropic Advisor to members of the Rockefeller family. She was President of Manhattanville College in New York from 1966 to 1974 and during her tenure changed it from an elite Catholic women’s institution to a nondenominational, coeducational institution.
She has chaired the Asian Cultural Council since 1992 and been a Trustee since 1980. Ms. McCormack currently serves on the boards of the Population Council, The Juilliard School, the Trust for Mutual Understanding and Hamilton College. She also is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Century Association. Ms. McCormack was former Vice Chair of the board of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation; a Director of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center; and a Trustee of Cambridge, Spellman and Marlboro Colleges.
The Elizabeth J. McCormack Scholarship programme honours her contributions to Manhattanville College. Seven universities have honoured her with doctoral degrees, including Brandeis, Princeton and the American University of Paris.
She is a graduate of Manhattanville College and earned her Ph.D. in philosophy at Fordham University.
