Country Director of Northern Ireland
Padraic Quirk was the Country Director of Northern Ireland for The Atlantic Philanthropies and was based in Belfast.
In this role, Mr. Quirk oversaw grantmaking of Atlantic’s Ageing, Children & Youth and Reconciliation & Human Rights Programmes and was responsible for leading the implementation of the Northern Ireland strategy to achieve the highest possible returns on the foundation’s investments in its final phase of grantmaking. He lead Atlantic’s relations with government and partners. Mr. Quirk also continued to manage the Reconciliation & Human Rights grants portfolio.
He served as interim Country Director for six months in 2012. Mr. Quirk joined the foundation in 2005 as Programme Executive for the Reconciliation & Human Rights Programme in Northern Ireland.
Prior to Atlantic, he was a senior manager with Deloitte Consulting in Belfast and led the public policy evaluation team. Mr. Quirk previously worked in the Equality Directorate of the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister and spent his early career working as a researcher in government, academia and for a number of voluntary sector organisations. He was part of the Standing Advisory Commission on Human Rights’ Employment Equality Review team and has published work on peace building in Northern Ireland, South Africa and Israel-Palestine.
Mr. Quirk holds a Ph.D. in conflict resolution from the University of Ulster and a B.A. (Hons) in politics and philosophy from the Queen’s University of Belfast.
