Diana Benton Schechter
Executive for Strategic Planning
Diana Benton Schechter is the Executive for Strategic Planning in the Office of the Chief Executive Officer at The Atlantic Philanthropies. She is based in the New York office.
Ms. Schechter provides strategic counsel, project management and writing support to the CEO on Board relations, programme strategic planning, internal communications, organisational development and reviews of processes and practices across the foundation. She analyses problems and presents information to facilitate decision-making by senior leadership and the Board of Directors. Ms. Schechter helped manage the global programme strategic review in 2011-2012 that finalized the plans for conclusion of Atlantic’s historic grantmaking, and has a key role in planning for the foundation’s final investments through its Global Opportunity & Leverage (GOAL) Fund. She also manages special grantmaking and other projects for the CEO. Previously, Ms. Schechter was a member of the Chief of Staff’s Office and the Communications Department.
Prior to joining Atlantic in 2007, Ms. Schecter was a Senior Associate at Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, a strategic communications and crisis management firm based in New York.
Ms. Schechter serves on the boards of the Columbia College Young Alumni Fund and Discovery to Cure, an institute at Yale University committed to advancing the prevention, early detection and treatment of women’s reproductive cancers.
She earned a B.A. in history and creative writing from Columbia and a master’s in public administration from New York University.
